Uzbekistan possesses significant oil shale potential that could support the country’s long-term energy security, industrial diversification and domestic hydrocarbon production.
Augustus LLC, Tashkent, together with its technology partner Enecovery Limited, proposes to develop a modern oil shale project in Uzbekistan using advanced Thermo-Catalytic Conversion (TCC) Technology.
Proposed Development: 50,000 TPD
The project is envisioned as an integrated mining and processing operation with an ultimate capacity of approximately 50,000 tonnes of oil shale per day, subject to geological evaluation, testing, approvals and detailed feasibility studies.

Oil shale occurrences have been identified in several geological regions of Uzbekistan.
The development program would begin with identification of a suitable oil shale block, followed by:
Geological Surveys | Drilling | Core Sampling | Laboratory Analysis | Resource Assessment | Bulk Sample Testing
Representative oil shale samples would then undergo TCC testing to determine hydrocarbon yield, product characteristics and optimum commercial processing conditions.
Associated minerals and trace elements would also be evaluated for their potential economic value.

Thermo-Catalytic Conversion
The proposed project would utilize TCC Technology to process hydrocarbon-bearing oil shale and recover commercially valuable products.
Oil Shale → Preparation → TCC Processing → Hydrocarbon Recovery → Shale Oil + Gas + Industrial Products
The objective is to maximize the economic value recovered from every tonne of oil shale while developing an efficient and environmentally responsible processing system.

At full proposed capacity:
Processing Capacity: 50,000 tonnes/day
Operating Basis: approximately 350 days/year
Annual Feedstock: approximately 17.5 million tonnes
Final product yields and commercial configuration would be determined following detailed geological studies, representative sample testing and feasibility assessment.
The project can be developed in phases, progressing from exploration and testing to demonstration and full commercial production.
